Difference between JEE and other exams

There are two major differences between JEE and any other engineering exam like AIEEE, IIT-JEE etc. They are:-

1. JEE is a single exam being conducted for the admission in any engineering college unlike IIT-JEE or AIEEE. Earlier, the person cracking the AIEEE examination was eligible for NIT’s and few other colleges which accepted the AIEEE score. Same goes the case for JEE.

2. JEE Main will give around 40% weightage to the 12th board examinations as well. So it is a good chance for those who are good in academics and want admissions in India's Top Engineering Colleges.

Merits and Demerits of JEE (JEE-2013)

As every coin has two side, the new system being introduced comes with certain good and bad points.

Merits:-

For some, this new pattern will bring a relief. The students will be exempted from giving umpteen engineering tests for a long time. Sometimes, they have to give a different exam for every other college.

Demerits:-

Most of the students and even the faculty of top engineering institutes like IIT’s are not in favour of this changed pattern.

Firstly, it completely consists of just objective type questions. The faculty of IIT’s has always argued on the fact that just the objective questions degrade the quality of intake of the students. According to them, the subjective type questions are equally important to test the knowledge of a student.

Also, it will put more pressure on students, performing well in the entrance exam and also in the board examinations.

The new pattern will be executed from the next year- 2013.
